The New Haven Pride Center (NHPC) is once again opening up the nomination process for its prestigious Dorothy Awards to the local community. The 2012 Dorothy Awards, our 9th annual event, will honor individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to local LGBT life.
Beginning today, nominations for the awards can be submitted to the NHPC via this website: http://tinyurl.com/Dorothy2012. The nomination form asks users to describe the impact their nominee has had on the local LGBT community. Users are also welcome to submit multiple nominations if they choose. For a list of all previous Dorothy Award honorees, and to read about our past events, click here.
The public nomination process will close on Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at midnight. The board of the NHPC will review all submissions, and will ultimately decide the list of Dorothy honorees, along with the Dorothy Awards Committee.
Founded in 1996, and now celebrating its 15th anniversary season, the New Haven Pride Center (NHPC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer community and its allies. The NHPC is New Haven County’s only LGBTQ-focused community center and is an all-volunteer organization that relies on financial contributions for its existence. The NHPC’s mission is to educate the Greater New Haven community about LGBTQ issues; to advocate for equality and justice; and to provide a safe and accessible place for all LGBTQ persons and their allies.
