The silent auction has traditionally been one of the most popular features of the annual Dorothy Swards. We’re always looking for auction items – from individual givers as well as from businesses and organizations. Would you like to participate but are not sure what to give? Here are some ideas!
The silent auction has a history of fabulous “major items” – things like bicycles, boating trips, vacation trips, etc. We’d love to have a major item contributed by you – and early enough to make sure your name is in the silent auction program! This is a good time to mention that your item contributions, of any size, also yield you a “thank you” note listing the fair market value of the item for your deduction itemizing at tax time!
Most of our auction items are in the $25 to $100 value range. Do you have a favorite restaurant or place to shop? A gift certificate makes a great silent auction item. A gift certificate could also be for services at a favorite salon or from any service provider.
Interested in donating a major item? One that’s always a “hit” with the live auction participants is a gift certificate for a house cleaning or a specific home-related service from a provider of your choice. Are you a collector of vintage or antique items? We’d love to have a choice item from your collection, be it a print, a painting, an autographed photo or an “objet d’art.”
