The members of GLANCE have named Casey Gaffney and Joshua O’Connell the new facilitators of GLANCE. The change was made after original facilitator Venus McWey and co-facilitator Rif Meadows announced their intentions to step down as they prepare for new academic endeavors.
The group, launched in January of 2006 as a replacement for the now-defunct BRIDGES group, offers a safe place for those ages 18-28 to meet others in the community, relax and have a good time. The group features game nights, movie nights, discussion nights and more. Since the group’s launch the group now routinely has 20-25 people attend its Monday night meetings, which run from 8-11 p.m.
In addition, the new facilitators have announced that the next GLANCE fundraiser, set for Sept. 10. The theme will be Carnivale, and will also double as the date of our second annual drag contest. Dark Anjel Entertainment will provide dance music and karaoke, and drag performers will also be on hand for the event. Admission for the event is $5, and the admission fee includes food. Beverages are available for $1 (non-alcoholic only). The events will also have raffles and our popular number board raffle, this time envisioned as a punchboard. The fundraiser is open to all aged 18 and over.
