If you're interested in joining our new transgendered social group, read here!
Hello, my name is Sylvia Whitelace. My friends call me Lacy. I am very happy to announce that under the auspices of the New Haven Pride Center, plans are underway for a new T-girl group that will be having real-time get togethers for networking and social support. For the sake of labels, I am at this point in my life a happy and well-adjusted New Haven area Crossdresser! Yay!!
I realized early in life that I was just a little different from the other boys in my neighborhood, in a kind of special, nice way. But, being this young and tender transgendered soul did give me some cause to be particularly concerned with how I perceived myself fitting into society. Back in those days, I thought I was the only boy that identified with the female form and wore feminine garments; my parents probably thought the same. I must admit that I had my moments of doubt and pain as I continually compared myself, because I felt that society would judge me and I know my parents were clueless. There was no one I could talk to nor anyone who would reach out and hug me and say, “Hey kid, you’re OK.” It would have been nice to have a program that my parents or other adults could have availed themselves of to learn about these issues.
After it all, I’ve become a remarkably strong individual and have managed to grasp this wonderful gift of being special. I allow my feminine side to have a social life and validity as a person. I would like to share my experience with other like-minded folks.
So now that you can see where I’m going with this, I hope you will avail yourself to come and be a part of this support network and help build safety, joy and community among us transgendered souls.
We are thinking of having our get togethers early on a Saturday evening at The New Haven Pride Center, 14 Gilbert St., West Haven. Quite possibly, following our meeting, we may make it an evening out with the girls and our partners/friends going to either The Kasbah Restaurant or 168 York St Café, both in New Haven. For those of us who play musical instruments, The Kasbah Restaurant has an open mic every Sat evening. As we do our planning, we need to hear directly from you. Your interest, ideas and involvement are vital to making this program come to life. If you have interest in this program, please email me at whitelaceblue@yahoo.com, or e-mail the New Haven Pride Center directly at nhglcc@gmail.com.
Plans are to have our first monthly get together sometime after Labor Day. We're so excited to hear your thoughts and ideas! Get in touch with us today!
Love,
Lacy
