Celebrate the end of summer with the NHPC!

The New Haven Pride Center is holding its second End of Summer Barbeque at the Harbor View Pavilion of Fort Nathan Hale Park in New Haven.  It will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Sept. 10. The event is free and open to all; food and beverages will be provided. We ask that those planning on attending please RSVP by E-mailing nhglcc@gmail.com so we can get a headcount for the food.  For more information, visit the event page.  This event continues our 15th Anniversary celebration festivities; additional events are in the works to close out the year, including our annual wine tasting in November.

Third beer tasting a success

The New Haven Pride Center would like to thank all of our attendees to the third Beer Tasting at the Savin Rock Conference Center on August 1. We had a great group turn out to sample some fantastic brews from three local distributors while enjoying the views of the ocean. Also to accompany the libations was a spread of delicious cheeses and breads. We capped off the night by raffling off some excellent gift bags, and congratulations to all the winners! Check out a few shots taken from the beer tasting in the photo gallery at right.

GLANCE celebrates New York Pride

The GLANCE group took its annual trip into New York City for pride in June, with a group of almost 20 people converging for the annual festivities, which included celebrating the recent decision to allow same-sex marriages in the state.  GLANCE continues to meet Mondays, 8-11 p.m. at the Center; upcoming events include a visit to the group from the Yale Swing & Blues Group on Monday, Sept. 5.

Thank you for your Dorothy Awards nominations!

The Center thanks those who submitted candidates for Dorothy Awards via our public nomination process.  The Center's leadership will select the honorees this coming fall, and the names will be released once the selection process is complete.  We will also be commencing our Dorothy Award volunteer meetings in the fall; those interested in attending should subscribe to our electronic newsletter to keep tabs on meeting dates and times or E-mail us at nhglcc@gmail.com to express interest.

Rainbow Support Group Heads to CT Pride

The 30th annual Connecticut Pride celebration will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Bushnell Park in Hartford, and the Rainbow Support Group will be representing the Center at the event.  For more information about this year's event, which includes headliner Kristine W, visit the Connecticut Pride website.

Scholarship winner to be announced shortly

The Pride Center is pleased to be able to announce our first ever scholarship winner shortly; a separate article will appear on the New Haven Pride Center website with the news.

Imperial Court continues campaign with Center

The Imperial Sovereign Court of All Connecticut earlier this year named the New Haven Pride Center one of its beneficiaries for its 2011-2012 court window.  As such, many major events the Court is holding this year also serves as a benefit that helps raise money for the Center, along with two other worthy causes, the Triangle Community Center and the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective.  Keep an eye on our calendar of events for upcoming Court events!

Stay in touch

You can keep close to the Center in a variety of ways.  Subscribe to our electronic newsletter, join our Facebook group, follow our new Twitter account, or attend our drop in hours, which take place each Monday from 6:30-8 p.m.  We also encourage those who are interested in volunteering with us to E-mail nhglcc@gmail.com and we'll chat with you about ways you can get involved with the Center.
