About the Artist
Daniel Eugene is an artist, mystic, poet and designer from Bethany, CT currently residing in the Westville Village neighborhood of New Haven, CT.
His current project, #NHVdrag, is a photo-series documenting the outstanding drag performance community in New Haven, CT. It is Eugene’s intention that #NHVdrag serve to remind us of a more accurate Normal representative of possibilities in human variety unrestricted by outmoded social conventions and a history defined by severe repression of gender and sexual identity. It is his hope that this expression of variety, here made explicit in photographs, might serve to uplift us out from a terrible past of willful and oppressive homogeneity and help build our imaginations towards a future history characterized by brilliant inclusion and celebration of our myriad humanness.
