PRIDEfest Returns to the New Haven Green!

For the first time in nearly twenty years, PRIDEfest returns to the New Haven Green! Starting at 12:00p, enjoy a seven-hour line-up of drag and musical performances by local queer artists hosted by Crystal Starz and Mz October May Lay. Browse the vendor village, connect with local community organizations, sample bites from local food trucks, and enjoy oversized games and frozen custard in our Family Fun Zone! 

Don’t want the party to end? Directly after PRIDEfest, head over to Burlesque Night Out at New Haven’s oldest LGBTQ+ establishment, 168 York Street Cafe, for an alle-femme burlesque show celebrating femininity and queer bodies. Hosted by Dot Mitzvah. $20 in advance / $25 at the door.

Then, hop over to Gotham Citi at 9:00p for the official PRIDEfest After Party, hosted by Casey Fitzpatrick, featuring more live performances, special guest appearances, dancing, and a whole lot of fun! Pay cover at the door.

Family Fun Zone

Join us during PRIDEfest on the New Haven Green at our Family Fun Zone which will feature a variety of events that are meant for LGBTQ+ families and youth! Crystal Starz, Host

Crystal Starz is an up and coming drag performer who is known for bringing energy to every stage she is on. Over the last year, Crystal has worked tirelessly to establish herself as a quality performer and host, performing at different venues across the state. Having come from extremely humble beginnings, and a past fear of performing, Crystal has made quite the impact. Crystal’s continued ambition is to find and secure more opportunities to create more spaces where queer artists can be expressive and showcase their talent openly and safely!

Galush (he/they)

Galush specializes in live creation of full tracks via beatboxing and vocal looping. Taking inspiration from the Beatboxing and Hip-Hop community, he competes internationally as a solo and loopstation beatboxer, honing his skills as he works to advance the horizon of the capabilities of the human voice. Combined with his passions for education and social justice, Galush is an active advocate for inclusive spaces and event design within the beatboxing and broader hip hop communities.

John “Galush” Galusha is a 2020 Graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine where he double-majored in Music and Gender/Women’s Studies. He taught music with the Achievement First charter school network in New Haven, CT from August 2020 through the end of 2021, and now supports an active roster of independent students in beatboxing, looping, singing, songwriting, and digital production.

Erycka Ortiz (she/her)

An experienced organizer, Erycka previously worked alongside Black and Brown youth harmed by the school-to-prison pipeline and as a community liaison to build public health. An experienced public speaker, Erycka has also educated audiences about decentering gender and the politics of trans allyship, co-facilitated leadership trainings for youth, and developed and executed campaigns to center youth leadership at local and statewide levels. Erycka is a graduate of New London High School and of organizing trainings from BOLD, SOUL, and The Funder’s Collaborative on Youth Organizing. She is passionate about the livelihoods of those who are the most vulnerable and impacted by policing and all its forms. She now joins the Pride center as our Youth Services Coordinator! Erycka is Sag sun, Pisces moon, and Gemini rising! She loves plants and cooking.

ChibiCon

ChibiCon has been combining the art of drag and cosplay since 2015. After getting their start in small venues and night clubs, they eventually worked their way into colleges, universities, Pride events, and Anime and Videogame conventions. The group has done tours like “Super Heroes” and “Villains” and are currently touring their Variety Show.

Tito Midnight (ChibiCon)

Tito (he/him) is very creative and has learned to design and sew, construct armor for garments and extravagant looks and recently learned to make jewelry. Tito has traveled all over the states to attend many Anime, Video Games and Comic Conventions and participated in many cosplay competitions with his fiancé Serenity Lockhart as part of “Serene Midnight Cosplay” winning multiple awards. He has been producing successful shows in New England for over 10 years. His Dream is to bring ChibiCon to conventions and other venues not just in the New England area but all over the USA.

Serenity Lockhart (ChibiCon)

Serenity Lockhart (she/they) draws a lot of inspiration from anime, video games and comics and she is mostly self-taught when it comes to hair and make-up. She has competed at many drag competitions, as well as conventions with her fiancé Tito Midnight as part of “Serene Midnight Cosplay” winning multiple awards. She is the Mistress of Ceremonies for ConnectiCon’s Annual Masquerade. Serenity is often referred in the area as the “Queen of Cosplay” and is known for her big personality, incredible charisma, outstanding character make up and extravagant out of this world looks.

Veronica Midnight Lockhart (ChibiCon)

A larger-than-life performer and entertainer, Veronica (she/her) loves performing old school numbers and gospel music. Veronica spends a lot of her time doing charity and many non-profit events. She specializes in lip-syncing and dancing paired with couture looks. She loves playing video games and has a strong background knowledge of them. She dreams of traveling the world and perform in drag as her main job. Whether she’s doing cosplay or couture, Veronica will always bring the house down.

Peachy Crème (ChibiCon)

Peachy (they/them) really started getting into drag when ChibiCon first formed. They have an extensive stage and musical background, which can be seen in their performances. On occasion, they sing live. Their performances range from comedic to dramatic to edgy. They consider themselves a jack-of-all-trades and like to dabble in all things drag and cosplay.

Fanny Lockhart (ChibiCon)

Fanny (she/her) is the embodiment of a basic girl, but funnier, and more gorgeous. She is a camp queen or comedy queen whatever you prefer. Her humor is childish, but a good fart joke makes everyone laugh. She also dabbles a little with cosplay. She has been only doing drag for 4 years, with what you could say small break due to pandemic.

DJ Lady Tita

DJ Lady Tita is a staple in nightlife, currently holding residencies at Club Feathers (NJ), Tea Dance (Westport, CT), monthly Wüf party (Chez Est in CT), and a weekly radio dance show on Power 78.7 Radio every Friday night at 8pm. Now approaching her 35th year in the music industry, she has expanded h services to also include music/sound production for outdoor festivals.

Tiki Malone

She’s a former theater kid, an aspiring cabaret singer, a gin-soaked eccentric, and a bisexual icon. Tiki Malone isn’t a regular mom, she’s a cool mom. Tiki is a regular performer at Wacky Wednesdays hosted by Frankie M. Cyanide at Trevi Lounge in Fairfield, a 2-time finalist in the Chez Legends competition held at Chez Est in Hartford and was once in seen on television in the audience of the Maury Povich show.

Enigma Jones

Enigma Jones is the dumbest person you will ever meet. She’s a clown with a big heart and a sharp tongue, and you’re going to love her! She is so excited to be a part of New Haven Pride this year and contribute her own brand of weird to this celebration of queerness.

Boxa Crayonz

Boxa Crayonz is the Dancing Drag Thing of NYC. Boxa is an art teacher by day and a drag artist by night. She is based in NYC but performs all over the tristate area. Boxa’s goal is to encourage drag of all kinds and to transcend the stigma regarding AFAB and trans drag performers. To describe her drag in three words: electric, fun, and smart.

Rory Roux Lay

Rory Roux Lay is a CT based trans drag artist who performs throughout the state. She loves doing a variety of different types of drag including comedic, dance, political, and alternative numbers. In addition to performing, Rory also sews costumes, edits mixes, and makes flyers.

Mia E Z'Lay

She’s campy and Kooky.
Thicc and Spooky.
A tiny waist and a subtle face.
Mia is a drag entertainer from CT. You can find her running shows and performing all over New England. Mia is known for her comedy skills, flexibility, and her ability to ignore her large stack of unpaid parking tickets. Catch her at venues near you or online @miaezlay.

Jehloni (he/they/she)

Jehloni is an up-and-coming artist who is not chasing greatness but is expecting it! Their music transcends the confines of self identity, inspiring listeners to challenge and release what’s locked away within them. Jehloni’s bleeding heart of confidence allows listeners to bleed with them.

Myles Jéh

Myles Jéh is a singer-songwriter/rapper from Springfield, Massachusetts. Myles connected
with music at an early age and now performs at festivals, award shows, and venues that are open to diverse and family-friendly crowds. He is known for his deep and low tone but energizes a crowd with ease. A few performance highlights include performing on BET Network’s 106 & Park, opening for Avery Wilson, and Kristin Maldonado of Pentatonix. Myles’s music can be streamed on all music platforms. Sapphire Bills

You can find Sapphire ripping the runways of NYC, gracing your Instagram timeline, and slaying stages all around CT. During the day she is a full time professional makeup artist, but when transformed, Sapphire is a showstopping-statuesque diva with an unapproachable beat & body-ody-ody. There’s no doubt that you’ll be captivated by her million dollar smile and a heart of gold.

Laiylah Alf Wa Laiylah Tintanabulah

Laiylah A. W. Laiylah is a “Thousand and one Nights.” I recently found out my paternal grandmother’s name was Lelia; we never met. A variation of Laiylah (uncanny)! Last name’s Tintanabulah, fancy word that means “Bells ringing.” But you can just call me Laiylah. Lala works too!

Angelina the Latin Doll (she/they)

Angelina is quite the Latin doll of CT. A proud Hispanic artist who love to represent and showcase her culture, her roots and Latin spirit. She loves to dance to the Latin rhythms wearing the most bright colors of the rainbow, always looking like the tropical day of Latin America. During her performance her only goal is to make people dance and have fun. 

Jocelyn LaFlare

A Connecticut-born queen and Mother of the Haus of LaFlare, Jocelyn began doing drag in high school and went on to model in drag during college at SCSU in New Haven. She later began performing in local competitions and several pride events in and out of Connecticut. She is known for her love of shoes and iconic model walk.

Iridessa Soul

My name is Iridessa Soul, of the Haus of LaFlare. I am a CT based drag performer who loves to shine my light and bring love and smiles to as many faces as I can! I have been doing drag for two years now, and I couldn’t be more blessed to be apart of this amazing community! You never know what you’ll get when you see Iridessa! I may pull out a stunt or two, maybe a prop or reveal, or maybe just a bit of magic! I couldn’t do it without all of my friends, family, and my peers around me, with all of their support and all they have taught me! Much love, and keep shining bright!

Glitch N Charge

Low key gorgeous, high key idiot, Glitch N’ Charge is a all around comedy/dance queen who’s guaranteed to make you laugh and smile. Formerly from Provincetown Mass., she now lives in New Haven, Connecticut.

Felicity Vodka

Felicity Vodka is a newer queen here in CT whose passion is to bring joy and a connection through her performance. She has fallen in love with drag for many years and is ecstatic to be sharing the stage with so many talented and wonderful queens.

Mz. Clementine KuLayd

My name is Mz. Clementine KuLayd. I am a drag performer from CT and have been doing drag art for over a year. I love giving a fun, light hearted, and silly performance. Some of my favorite songs to perform are either pop or musical theater. I enjoy the sillier and campier side to performing.

Frankie Cyanide (he/they)

Frankie Cyanide is a drag being purely fueled by chaos and questionable fashion choices. Frankie hosts a weekly LGBTQ+ open stage, Wacky Wednesdays, at Trevi Lounge in Fairfield, and a bimonthly drag punk series at The State House in New Haven.

DJ Ephraim Adamz

Ephraim Adamz is an American DJ, filmmaker, songwriter, and recording artist of Guyanese heritage. Often regarded as the “King of Pride”, he is widely known for his activism in Black and Queer communities. He rose to prominence on YouTube in 2014 with the viral music video “Twerk Bitch (You A Bottom)”. He has collaborated with over twenty four Pride Festivals. Two are the largest in the United States, including Rhode Island Pride and Stonewall 50 WorldPride NYC 2019. During the Covid-19 pandemic he was one of twenty-four video editors to produce Global Pride 2020, the worlds largest LGBT virtual event in history.

Damela Cuca DeVille

Damela Cuca DeVille has been performing for almost ten years, bringing her Latinx flavor and intense death stares to anyone with the blood pressure to tolerate it in the New England area. She spent the first few years donating her time and giving back to her community through the Imperial Court of Western MA, where she earned her first title in the community. She has since gone on to dropping it like it’s a hot potato wherever possible, and just enjoying life along the way.

Miss Rozzz Aura

Miss Rozzz Aura is a local drag artist based out of New Haven County, Connecticut! Since 2019, one can find Miss Rozzz spinning and twirling at various venues across Connecticut, aiming to spread love and light wherever she goes!

Bubblicious

Tia (she/her) has been performing for over 30 years – taking on stages in Connecticut, New York, and Europe. Bubblicious, or Bubbles as her friends call her, was one of the founding queens of the New Haven drag scene and has performed in every LGBTQ+ venue throughout New Haven. As an visual artist Tia’s art tells stories. As an out and proud black transgender woman, Bubbles dedicates time and energy to bring awareness, support, and visibility to black and brown trans folk through performance and activism.

Azula

Hello, my name is Azula 💙. I would describe myself as pretty, stunty & cun*y . I have a background in gymnastics & ballroom / vogue ! When I’m on stage, I luv to werq every bit of it & make sure people know who the doll is! Me 💙🇲🇽

Lucia Virginity

With 15 years of drag experience, Lucia Virginity has been a busy queen in her community of Connecticut, helping raise money for local and national charities including the states of New York, Boston, Rhode Island, DC, & Western Massachuetts. In those 15 years, she’s made a name for herself that’s on everyone’s lips bringing smiles to their faces. With a lot flare, glamour, class, and sass, Ms. Lucia Virginity loves what she does and is grateful for making life-long friends & relationships with everyone that she has encountered.

Sparkle A. Diamond

Sparkle A. Diamond (she/they) was created in May 2006 by Kishorn C Henry-Walker while residing in Baltimore, MD. Sparkle, or Sparky, as her friends call her, lives by the motto, “leave a little Sparkle everywhere you go.” Sparkle currently resides in West Haven, CT with her husband Aharon and family. She has performed in many venues in and around CT and currently is a cast member of the Lipstick, Lashes and Lies drag show at Comix Roadhouse – Mohegan Sun Casino.

Summer Orlando

As Connecticut’s premier theater drag queen and illusionist, she is known for her Broadway quality costumes, showstopping performances, live singing, comedic timing, and her amazing event hosting skills. Her hosting duties include bachelorette parties, anniversary celebrations, Wedding, Pride events, and birthday parties for all ages. She performs throughout New Haven and Hartford counties, in NYC, Florida, and everywhere in between!

Most recently she was handpicked by the producers of the movie Judy to be their meet and greet Judy Garland look-alike on June 30th for WorldPride in New York City.

Summer is the first male actor honored to play the role of Dorothy in a licensed production of The Wizard Of Oz in the world. Her most notable work has been with her own theatrical production company, Summer Orlando Productions. You can catch Summer touring throughout the country performing her drag stage parodies and professionally impersonating Judy Garland, Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli, and other celebrities.

Summer is the producer, creator of her stage tribute show “Hocus Pocus Live!” Her impersonation of Winifred Sanderson has received so much attention that she was handpicked by Disney to appear in the upcoming Hocus Pocus 2 coming to Disney+ September 30, 2022.

Summer is one of the first drag performers tapped by TGI Fridays to start its first monthly drag cabaret event, hosted with her business partner Barbra Joan Streetsand. Summer is one of the show producers and headliners for Meriden CT’s Premier weekly Drag brunch “Drag Me to Brunch” at The 78 Dinner Theater.

In her spare time, she teaches choreography and Directs children’s theater, hoping to inspire kids to explore the wonderful and magical world of Theater. Summer likes long walks on the beach, show tunes, and cheesecake.

Barbara Joan Streetsand (they/them)

Barbra Joan Streetsand has been performing for over 30 years and has been active in the lgbtq+ community even longer, having performed and hosted many PRIDE events in New Haven and elsewhere.
