Nailed to the Wall
November 5 – 30, 2018
The Great Room Gallery
New Haven Pride Center, 84 Orange Street, New Haven
Art has played a very important role in Tony Ferraiolo’s healing because it allowed him to take all the emotions he had bottled up inside, and instead of inflicting this pain on himself, he was able to release it on canvas. The art he has created over the years tells a story of his life, through his gender transition and through his journey to heal old wounds. Some of his work is created very rapidly and spontaneously, while others are carefully executed. But all are representation of emotions revealing openness and pain evident only in the human heart.
This exhibit is a collection of pieces by Tony Ferraiolo as well as by the children he has worked with. That work is captured in Tony’s books Artistic Expressions of Transgender Youth and Artistic Expression of Transgender Youth Volume 2. Through the books, take a journey into the lives of transgender youth through their artwork. Tony Ferraiolo will bring you along for an exploration of his work with trans youth, told through the eyes of the youth themselves.
