The New Haven Pride Center is proud to be the producer of the only LGBTQ-focused performance program series in the State of Connecticut.
Curated by the Center’s Executive Director and program officers, the Center presents two different performance program series: 1) The Center Cabaret and 2) The Center Summer Concert Series. Both these programs aim to highlight local and regional artists who identify as LGBTQ+. The Center Cabaret presents three-four different performance programs a year, presenting a combination of spoken word artists, choreographers, theatre makers, and other performance art acts. Typically these performances have taken place in smaller cabaret-style venues throughout New Haven. The Center Summer Concert Series takes place June – August as a lead into PRIDE New Haven and features musical acts from both Connecticut and from throughout the region.
Are you an artist? Know of an artist you think would be a great addition to our performance program line up? The Center is actively seeking works that can be presented as part of our Center Cabaret. Ideal works feature either solo artists or small companies and do not require extensive tech or on-site rehearsal time. Email the Center’s Executive Director Patrick J Dunn with your suggestions and/or media packet.
New Haven Pride Center Commissions
In addition to our performance arts series, the New Haven Pride Center often works with individual artists and arts organizations to commission new works of performance art that are presented as either a part of the Center Cabaret series or as independent performance programs. This commissions reflect on the Center’s desire to foster an environment that tells queer stories and creates works that are reflective of the community.
