Celebrate the start of PRIDE New Haven at our Flag Raising Ceremony with Mayor Toni Harp and other elected officials on the New Haven Green. PRIDE New Haven is excited to host the first ever flag raising ceremony as part of our kick-off events and plan to raise Daniel Quasar re-imagined pride flag.
After the Ceremony join us for the Kick-Off Reception at the rooftop terrace at the Audubon Terrace, hosted in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater New Haven. At the Kick-Off Reception enjoy delicious bites by Atelier Florian and a cash bar provided by Gotham Citi, with entertainment and music!
Thank you to our amazing entertainers – DJ Edgewood, Semaphora, Luminous, and Emma!
The 6 stripe LGBTQ flag should be separated from the newer stripes because of their difference in meaning, as well as to shift focus and emphasis to what is important in our current community climate. The main section of the flag (background) includes the traditional 6 stripe LGBTQ flag as seen in its most widely used form so as not to take away from its original meaning (seen above). The trans flag stripes and marginalized community stripes were shifted to the Hoist of the flag and given a new arrow shape. The arrow points to the right to show forward movement, while being along the left edge shows that progress still needs to be made. – Daniel Quasar
