Meet the Bands
TMBOY is Sarah Aument and Will Shore. Together they create shadowy electronic avant-pop. It has an unusually organic feel for music that leans heavily into house and techno. Since forming the band they’ve played regularly around NYC at venues including Union Pool and Bowery Ballroom, and released an EP (Tomboy) in 2015.
“The EP is made up of the kind of intimate, percussion-driven songs that are somehow perfect for both dancing and cuddling—or just quietly rocking out at your desk with your headphones on.” (Nylon Magazine)
The two met working together at a jingle-house writing music for TV. Soon they were churning out background music for reality TV by day, and getting together to make music they actually wanted to make in the evenings. As a songwriter, Aument’s vocals expose the difficult process of understanding who she is, while Shore’s vibraphone playing and production amplify the emotion in each lyric.
“The duo’s spacious electro-pop references everything from Björk to Chairlift to Dirty Projectors to Purity Ring. ‘Moths’…matches booming low-end and skittering island percussion with Aument’s strikingly assured vocal performance.” (Stereogum)
The band is currently putting the final touches on a full length album. Check out their website at tmboymusic.bandcamp.com/
Laura Clapp grew up in New England. She’s brash, she’s honest, and she’s happy to be here. Put these things together and you get an artist not afraid to tell it like it is who thrives on love, excitement and a passion for life. After moving to Nashville as a Berklee College of Music graduate, Laura quickly befriended some of Music City’s best and it wasn’t long before she was singing for a living. This led to countless demo sessions, an incredible journey as backing vocalist for 80’s synth legend Howard Jones and the opportunity to share her love of music gear as a product specialist for several music equipment manufacturers. Most recently, Laura joined the legendary Shure Incorporated as their Retail Market Development Specialist, and she is currently working on material for her 4th album. She lives in Guilford with her husband and two incredible daughters. Check out her website at lauraclapp.com/home
