The New Haven Pride Center is committed to justice for all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
In 2020, the Center launched a new type of programs called Days of Action that emerged from our community-focused panels and conversations. These mini-conferences aim to challenge us as a community to combat issues that divide us and create injustice within our own community.
Each Day of Action, or LGBTQ+ mini-conference, consists of workshops, conversations, and artistic experiences focused upon themes such as gender equity, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ Latinx experiences. These mini-conferences aim to foster an immersive environment to educate, mobilize, and challenge participants to combat divisive issues of injustice within the larger LGBTQ+ community.
The Center beli coalesces the community through the Days of Action workshops, training, and guidelines to empower our present and future thought leaders to tackle the present and future challenges faced by the community.
Goals of the 2021 Days of Action :
- Directly confront racism and xenophobia within the LGBTQ+ community
- Increase understanding how racial and gender inequities impact the LGBTQ+ community
- Understand how to create safe and equitable spaces for LGBTQ+ women
- Celebrate the creatives and community leaders in the community doing this work
